Ruaridh Macmillan is starting to make quite a name for himself as both a solo performer, he's Scotland's current young traditional musician of then year, and with bands
Ruaridh has performed at the festival before. The picture here was taken when he performed in the Brian McNeill session back in 2006. This year is the first year that sees him playing as a named artist
He's playing with his band, a combo that includes No I.D. bodhran, Adam Brown and Tia Fyles on guitar and forms part of the Scottish Showcase that's dispersed throughout the festival. Also keep an eye out for his workshop
Oh yes there's a chance that he'll be part of the session with some musicians from another band that he's a part of, The Paul McKenna Band.
That Ruaridh is Scottish Young Musician On The Year says more than I could about him. Try and find the time to catch one of his performances and/or workshop and be stunned by the talent that imbues it's self into Scottish fiddle players at such a young age.
